The “T-Rail System” features Rumber® Boards with ¼” T-RAIL welded to cross members at a maximum 24” spacing from the center of one cross member to the center of next cross member. This is an optional method that can be used instead of having to add the additional cross members.
T-Rail
is a specialty steel, with limited availability. Two pieces of Angle
Iron, 1 ½”
x 1 ½” x ¼” back-to-back
make an
excellent “T-Rail” at much less cost and ready availability. The Angle Iron/T-Rail should be welded to
each cross member and spot welded together in the center between each
cross
member.
There
are six different Rumber® Board dimensions which permit a mix that
usually will
eliminate ripping a board for most trailers. The six board sizes are
9402 – 1
¾” x 7 ¼”; 9404 – 1 ¾” x 8 1/16”; 9406 – 1
¾” x 5 ¾”; 9410 – 1 ¾” x 10”; 9412 –
1 ¾” x 12”; and 9446 – 1 ¾” x 4 ½”.
Another
suggestion is to use the cut-off ends of boards as ‘spacers’ to get
your angle
iron all properly spaced and squared before you begin welding the angle
iron to
the cross members.
Screws
and special saw blades are available from Rumber Materials Inc.
9400 Series Board measurements
for calculating trailer board requirements.
9446
+ angle = 5.00”
9406
+ angle = 6.250”
9402
+ angle = 7.750”
9404
+ angle = 8.625”
9410
+ angle = 10.50”
9412
+ angle = 12.50”
These
calculations work with 3/16 or 1/4 angle iron or t-rail.
